‘The Batman’ to become the longest ‘Dark Knight’ film with almost three-hour runtime

The longest, darkest night in the DCU?

Robert Pattinson-headlined “The Batman” movie is set to create a new record for having the longest runtime of any “Dark Knight” movie. A report by Variety confirms that the 2022 film will run for two hours and 47 minutes, with end credits adding eight minutes more to that, per The Hollywood Reporter.

This movie ranks behind “Avengers: Endgame” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” which ran for more than three and four hours, respectively, in terms of superhero films.

On Jan. 20, two new “The Batman” posters were revealed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Led by director Matt Reeves and screenwriter Peter Craighe, the new film looks into Bruce’s early life as the Caped Crusader, two years after he donned the signature black costume. “Striking fear into the hearts of criminals has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City,” the film’s official synopsis says. “With only a few trusted allies, Alfred Pennyworth, Lt. James Gordon, amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.”

The movie also features Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, the alter ego Catwoman, and Paul Dano as the villain Edward Nashton, a.k.a. The Riddler, who is pretty much a social-media-savvy as he live-streams his crimes.

“The Batman” will hit the theaters this March. Watch its latest trailer here.
