Police sarge from Nueva Ecija dies of COVID


A police sergeant assigned in Nueva Ecija is the latest fatality of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

A report from Camp Crame revealed that the policeman was 38 years old who tested positive for the virus on January 13. He died the following day in the hospital and became the 126th COVID fatality in the PNP.

While the police officer was fully-vaccinated in June last year, he had been suffering from chronic disease.

The new COVID-related death in the PNP came as the PNP continuously suffer from infection of its personnel.

Based on the latest data released on Wednesday morning, a total of 323 policemen were infected by the coronavirus.

Currently, the PNP has 3,615 active cases--all of them were infected since the upsurge of COVID cases last month.
