Even after the country posted another record-high for single-day coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections at 37,154, the number of recoveries continued to substantially increase with 30,037 logged on the same day.

The OCTA Research Group noted that Metro Manila’s COVID-19 growth rate has dipped to two percent.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other areas under Alert Level 3 brace for the implementation of the government’s No Vaccination, No Ride Policy which takes effect Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. Both the local government units (LGUs) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have prepared for the implementation of the policy, which has been meant by strong opposition from several sectors.

Congress also returns to its regular session with the effects of the pandemic being felt both in the Senate and House, which would be operating under a skeletal force of lawmakers and staff.

STO. NIÑO MOTORCADE – The image of the Sto. Niño de Cebu is transported across the new 8.9-kilometer Cebu Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) as part of a grand motorcade staged on Saturday night, Jan. 15, 2022, to celebrate the Feast of the Blessed Child. The motorcade started at the Basilica Minore del Sto Niño, passing by St. Joseph Church in Mabolo, Cebu City, then to Mandaue City, and on to the Nuestra Señora de Regla Parish in Lapu Lapu City, before passing through CCLEX.
