Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Saturday, Jan. 15, that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Sotto made the announcement on his official Facebook page, saying that he is now experiencing sore throat, fever, and body aches.

He assured the public that he is okay and will work remotely while in isolation for the next seven days.

“Naka ilan close call ako sa Delta (gaya nung sa driver ko mismo) pero di ako nahawaan. Matindi talaga ang pagkalat ng Omicron — sabi nga ng ibang eksperto, LAHAT TAYO ay mae-expose sa variant na ito (I had a lot of close calls with the Delta variant (such as what happened to my driver) but I was not infected. The spread of the Omicron variant really is threatening — some experts say that all of us will be exposed to this variant),” Sotto said in his post.

His driver of five years, Vener Mollo, died on March 13 due to COVID-19.

“Kaya lagi po tayong mag-iingat, palakasin natin ang ating mga resistensya, at maging responsable – kung may sintomas wag na munang lumabas (Let’s all be careful and strengthen our body’s resistance, let us also be responsible by staying indoors whenever we experience any symptoms),” he added.
