Fire hits upholstery warehouse in Bacolod, left P5M worth of damage


BACOLOD CITY – The fire that gobbled an upholstery warehouse left an estimated P5 million worth of damage at Villa Lucasan Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan here on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Chief Insp. Rodel Legaspi, city fire marshal, said thick black smoke was billowing from the warehouse, where stocks of textiles and plastics considered flammable materials were found.

The blaze which broke out past 2 p.m. also destroyed a neighboring shop, a sedan, and a canter truck, according to Legaspi.

But, no houses were affected since the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was able to immediately contain the fire.

No injuries were reported, as workers managed to get out of the warehouse immediately.

Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of fire, which was put out around 5 p.m.
