Marikina City passes ordinance extending deadline of business permit renewal


The Marikina City government passed City Ordinance No. 003, Series of 2022, extending the deadline of business permit renewal for local business owners, the city government announced on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Under Ordinance No. 003, the deadline of business permit renewal was moved from Thursday, Jan. 20 to Monday, Feb. 28.

Any incurred penalties and surcharges as a result of payments made beyond Jan. 20 and before Feb. 28 are absolved under Ordinance No. 003.

The ordinance was signed in order to lessen the risk of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection as business permit renewals normally take place onsite at the Business Permits and Licensing Office at the Marikina City Hall in Barangay Sta. Elena.

“Whereas the extension of deadline for the renewal of business permits will help eliminate congestion and avoid the spread of the virus ,” according to Ordinance No. 003.

The ordinance was introduced by city councilors Donn Carlo B. Favis, Serafin Y. Bernardino, and Vice Mayor Doctor Marion Andres and was signed by Mayor Marcy Teodoro on Wednesday, Jan. 12.
