15 PDLs freed from NBP in Muntinlupa City

Fifteen persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released last Jan. 7 from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Thursday, Jan. 13.

In a statement, BuCor said that the freed PDLs from NBP’s medium security compound had completed their jail terms.

“Despite all the challenges caused by the pandemic and the surge cases of COVID-19, BuCor personnel are vigilant to attain the necessities of PDLs to achieve the freedom that they have been longing for after spending numerous years of imprisonment,” it said.

In 2021, BuCor released 4,610 PDLs from its seven prison facilities in the country.

NBP had the highest number of PDLs released in 2021 with 2,396. The Correctional Institution for Women (CIW)in Mandaluyong City released 414 PDLs; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, 230; San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, 423; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, 99; Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), 210; Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), 838.
