Comelec's tentative list of presidential aspirants for 2022 polls down to 10


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) removed a presidential aspirant from its tentative list of candidates on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Independent presidential bet Gerald Arcega was removed from the updated tentative list of candidates of the Comelec for the upcoming May 2022 national and local elections.

Meanwhile, the number of vice presidential aspirants remains the same at nine while senatorial hopefuls are still at 64.

There has been no word yet from the Comelec when the official list of candidates will be released.

On. Dec. 24, 2021 Comelec uploaded a trimmed down list of national aspirants which contained 15 presidential bets, nine vice presidential bets, and 70 senatorial bets.

The current number of national aspirants as of Jan. 11, is already far from October 2021's list of candidates for national positions which then consisted of 97 presidential aspirants, 28 vice presidential aspirants, and 174 senatorial aspirants.
