The resumption of the national team training initially scheduled Monday will have to be rescheduled to a later date due to the increasing number of active new COVID-19 cases in the country particularly in Metro Manila.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has reportedly tasked National Training Director Marc Velasco to come up with protocols for national pool members entering bubble-type setup training.

The government sports agency initially identified Philsports Complex in Pasig, the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the Teacher’s Camp in Baguio as its venues.

But Philsports and Rizal Memorial continue to be temporary healthcare facilities.

Other national teams, however, have entered its own bubble training including boxing, triathlon and karate, among others.

The rest would have to wait a little longer as standard guidelines under Alert Level 3 would have to be strictly abided to avoid more spread of the virus.

National athletes are expecting a busy calendar year with the 31st Southeast Asian Games scheduled in Hanoi, Vietnam in May and the 19th Asian Games set in Hangzhou, China in September.
