Fnatic notched its first back-to-back wins in the DPC SEA Winter Tour Division 1 following its 2-1 reverse sweep of Motivate Trust Gaming on Thursday, Jan. 6.
The International 10 representative however had to dig deep as it found itself down by a game in the series and behind in net worth in the second match.
Fortunately, Fnatic came alive just right in time as it used a huge clash at the 38-minute mark of Game 2 to climb its way back into the game after being down by as much as 9.8k net worth. The Malaysia-based esports team scored a four-man wipe during that clash to turn things around and take a 37-28 win.
With the momentum shifting to its side, Fnatic pushed the gas pedal in Game 3 leaving MG.Trust in the dust with a 28-16 triumph.
Armel “Armel” Tabios starred in the turnaround unloading an 8-3-15 score line on the Templar Assassin in Game 2 before following it up with a 9-1-4 showing on the Kunkka. Marco Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto was also instrumental in the reverse sweep as he helped Fnatic force the decider with his 11-3-16 KDA on the Wraith King in Game 2.
MG.Trust put up a solid stand especially during the opener when it demolished Fnatic, 38-28, behind a perfect 18-0-11 Morphling game from Souliya “Jackky” Khoomphetsavong. The Thais however failed to sustain its great start as it faltered in the late game of Game 2 which allowed Fnatic to regain foothold in the series.
Fnatic, which ended 2021 with a win over OB Esports X Neon, improved to a 3-2 standing while MG.Trust fell to a 2-3 win-loss card.
In the Division II action, Ragdoll asserted its mastery over the star-studded Talon Esports with a neat 2-0 sweep. The two squads first met in the open qualifier for the first Division II spot which Ragdoll prevailed.
Ragdoll drew the series first blood in a tight Game 1 with a 21-17 win. Talon seemed to have run out of steam in the second game as it failed to keep up with Ragdoll which annihilated them with a massive 29-3 Game 2 victory.
Ragdoll remained spotless in four games, joining Nigma Galaxy SEA and Filipino squad Polaris Esports atop the standings. Talon meanwhile has yet to really find its groove and is now 1-3 in the standings.
