DAGUPAN CITY — The active COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan have jumped to 77, after recording 32 new infections on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
The number is the highest single-day new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province so far, after a week after the Holidays.
PHO’s COVID-19 monitoring bulletin showed that from Dec. 28, 2021 up to Jan. 3, 2022, the daily average cases of Pangasinan is at 10.
As of 6 p.m of Jan. 5, Pangasinan now has 35,684 total confirmed cases with 34,384 recoveries and 1,223 deaths.
The municipality of Calasiao has the greatest number of active cases with 12 infections followed by Lingayen (10); San Carlos City (8); Mangaldan (7); and Bayambang with 6 cases.
In anticipation of COVID-19 surge in the province, Governor Amado Espino III has issued Executive Order (EO) No. 0001-2022 or the implementing preventive measures against the Omicron variant.
Under the EO, unvaccinated Pangasinenses are urged to stay at home except for emergency and humanitarian reasons.
In a radio interview, Provincial Legal Officer lawyer Atty. Geraldine Baniqued said unvaccinated individuals from Metro Manila and other areas under Alert Level 3 shall not be allowed to enter Pangasinan.
“Maaalala na kamakailan ay nagpatupad ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ng mga polisiya tungkol sa kanilang mga residente kung saan nakasaad na hindi pwedeng bumiyahe ang mga hindi bakunado,” she said.
Baniqued said stringent border control checkpoints will be reactivated anew wherein travelers must present their identification and vaccination cards.
“Ang ating component LGUs ay pwedeng mag-impose ng additional requirements sa pagpasok ng mga travelers mula sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng Alert Level 3 tulad ng Bulacan, Cavite, at probinsiya ng Rizal,” she added.
The provincial government also re-imposed the 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew hours.
