Domingo resigns as FDA director general


Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Eric Domingo has resigned from his post.

Domingo confirmed the news on Monday, Jan. 3.

"Yes, effective today. I believe I did my part to help during the pandemic," he said in a text message.

"The FDA is now stronger, more efficient and systems are in place. It's time for me to move on to other things," added Domingo.

The Department of Health (DOH) also confirmed the news to the media.

"Yes. We confirm the resignation of FDA Director General Eric Domingo," the Health department said in a statement.

"Dr. Oscar Guiterrez, Deputy Director General, FDA, was assigned as OIC," added DOH.

Domingo held the position since May 2019 as officer-in-charge (OIC), and eventually as its permanent head.
