In messages posted on their official Facebook pages, opposition bets Trillanes, Chel Diokno, and Alex Lacson greeted the public a happy new year as the country heads into 2022.

“Bagong taon, bagong gobyerno. Ito ang New Year’s resolution namin sa Magdalo. Kaya naman ngayong 2022 sisiguraduhin nating Pilipino ang panalo. Ngayong 2022 aahon tayo muli. Ikaw, ako, tayong lahat (New year, new government. That’s the New Year’s resolution of us in Magdalo. That’s why this 2022, let’s make sure the Filipinos win. This 2022, let us rise again. You, me, all of us),” Trillanes said in a Facebook video message.

“Sama-sama tayo sa May 2022. Pilipinas walang sukuan (Let us be together in May 2022. Philippines, no giving up),” he added.

Trillanes, along with Diokno and Lacson, are running under the ticket of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

Diokno expressed optimism about 2022 in his New Year message.

“I would like to wish everyone a happy happy new year. And I’m really happy that we are going to the new year. Kasi di ba ang daming nangyari noong 2021 pero kahit ano pang nangyari noong 2021, magpakasaya tayo dahil (Because a lot happened in 2021 but no matter what happened in 2021, let us have fun because this is a) new year na ngayon (now) and the future is very bright,” he said.

For his part, Lacson said he wished for a more “prosperous and happy” 2022 for everyone’s family.

“At sana bagong direksyon para sa ating bansa (And hopefully, a new direction for our country),” the lawyer and book author stressed.

Other opposition senatorial bets labor leader Sonny Matula and former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr. also posted their New Year’s message on Facebook.
