Shipping, fishing ops in PH ports resume as 'Jolina' moves away

Shipping and fishing operations in areas affected by severe tropical storm “Jolina” have now resumed as the weather disturbance further moved away from the country’s landmass, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday, Sept. 9.

The PCG said all sea trips and fishing operations in all ports nationwide already resumed as of 8 a.m. on Thursday.

“All passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers, as well as vessels, motorbancas, and rolling cargoes that were stranded or taking shelter, are now allowed to travel by sea,” the Coast Guard said in an advisory.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) lifted on Thursday the tropical cyclone wind signals in areas recently affected by tropical storm “Jolina” (international name “Conson”) as it further moves away from the country.

The state weather bureau said it is expected to move generally west-northwestward Thursday over the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight.
