Woman prays after getting goods from community pantry in Marikina

A woman was seen praying after getting some items from a community pantry in Marikina City, seemingly to thank God for the grace and blessing that she received.

In a Facebook post, Marikina Heights Community Pantry organizer Cedric Moneda shared a screenshot of the message sent to him via Messenger about a woman that netizens saw was praying right after she took some goods from the pantry.

Moneda, a web developer, and his friends Peter Ortiz, RJ Fe Guzman, and Shekinah Argudo, opened a pantry located in Barangay Marikina Heights. All of them are in their 20’s.

The netizen who messaged Moneda said: “Nasa Marikina Heights Park po ako kanina. After n’ya po kumuha sa community pantry ninyo, nagpasalamat siya sa Panginoon (I was in Marikina Heights Park. After she took some items from your pantry, I saw her thanking God).”

The message was accompanied by a photo of the woman praying in front of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary which is near the pantry.

Moneda thanked the netizen for sharing with him the photo of the woman.

“Mga bagay na nakakataba ng puso at bumubuhay sa pagiging tao natin (These are heartwarming things that restore our faith in humanity),” he said in his post.

For in-kind donations, Moneda said they could drop them off at the community pantry or contact Ortiz at 09056660420.

Meanwhile, those who want to send financial assistance may send it to the following G-cash accounts: 09152677557 (Cedric John Moneda) or 09056660420 (Peter Ortiz).

Many people have lost their jobs and can barely manage to make both ends meet. In 2020, the Department of Labor and Employment said over 420,000 Filipinos lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
