LTO extends vehicle registration validity anew

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has further extended the registration validity of motor vehicles as a way to avoid overcrowding in its offices as it resumed operations in the Greater Manila Area this week.

This, as the agency resumed its operations in the Greater Manila Area, also known as National Capital Region (NCR)-plus.

In an announcement posted on its social media pages, LTO said it has extended the registration validity of motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 until June 30 and July 31, 2021, respectively.

An extended validity of until August 31, 2021 for the renewal of registration of motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 5 was also given.

The agency also set a weekly schedule for when owners of vehicles with certain license plate number combinations should make their transactions with the LTO.

The LTO said the move was in line with the “continuing enforcement of the community quarantine at varying levels due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and to strictly implement the observance of social distancing and other health and sanitary protocols to protect the health and safety of our employees, as well as our clients."

LTO offices and branches in the NCR and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal — collectively known as the NCR-plus — reopened on Monday, May 3, after shutting down operations during the implementation of strict community quarantine status.

With this, the LTO reminded the public to strictly follow health and safety protocols such as the wearing of face masks and face shields, and observing physical distancing at all times while inside its offices to curb the spread of the virus.
