Muntinlupa City government starts COVID-19 vaccination using CoronaVac

The Muntinlupa City government started on Wednesday (March 3) its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination using Sinovac's CoronaVac from the national government.

Dr. Edwin Dimatatac, Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun)medical director, was the first person to get vaccinated in the city which was witnessed by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi.

“I congratulate OsMun for being the first to conduct this vaccination roll out in the city and OsMun Director Dr. Edwin Dimatatac for being the first to be vaccinated,” said Fresnedi.

“Right now this is the best vaccine. And every day that we don’t get vaccinated, we run the risk of being infected. So, I encourage everyone to at least consider being vaccinated because you’re always exposed to risks. And in being vaccinated, you are not only protecting yourself but your family as well,” he added.

Fresnedi said he also wanted to get vaccinated to encourage Muntinlupa residents “but based on the instructions of the President, politicians should give way.”

“And also as per instructions, this vaccine is only advisable only for ages 18-59. Senior na po ako (I’m already a senior citizen). Anyway, I hope for the success of this vaccine rollout and I hope that before the end of the rollout, at least not less than 90 percent of health personnel/professionals of OsMun will be vaccinated,” the mayor said.

Muntinlupa Public Information chief Tez Navarro said the initial 300 doses of CoronaVac vaccine from the national government were delivered to OsMun Tuesday.

The initial doses delivered to Muntinlupa are separate from the city government’s order of 400,000 doses from AstraZeneca. It allotted P200 million for the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the city.
