Sandara Park, also known as Dara, former member of K-pop group 2NE1, has revealed her medical test results to assure fans and the public that she is healthy and has no thyroid problem.

On the Jan. 19 episode of the Korean talk show “Video Star” where Dara is one of the hosts, people noticed that Sandara’s neck was swollen, fueling rumors that she could be suffering from thyroid problem.

Fans became concerned about her health and urged her to see a doctor. Koreans also commented that Dara’s swollen neck looked worrisome.

It turned out that she did see a doctor and on the March 2 episode of “Video Star,” Dara belied the talks and presented the medical findings to prove she is healthy.

“I have something to reveal. I am healthy. Rumors circulated that I was sick. There is no problem with my thyroid gland,” she said.

Dara presented on the TV show her thyroid ultrasound findings indicating that her thyroid gland has no swelling or other inflammation, and it is normal.

“I have bigger neck muscles than others,” she said to explain her supposed swollen neck. Dara appealed to people to stop calling the production crew, or send direct messages to her family and acquaintances to inquire about her health.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “the thyroid gland is a small organ that’s located in the front of the neck, wrapped around the windpipe (trachea)” and “has an important job to do within your body — releasing and controlling thyroid hormones that control metabolism.”

It said swelling of the neck from an enlarged thyroid gland, or goiter, is a symptom of hyperthyroidism, “a condition where your thyroid creates and releases more hormones to your body than you need.”
