Fifteen medical health workers of the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID -19) are recovering after receiving their anti-COVID vaccines.

PCGH Officer-in-Charge, Dr. John Victor de Gracia, said he himself contracted the virus but is asymptomatic. The 15 health workers are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms.
De Gracia said the Sinovac vaccine they received could be the reason why the virus did not severely affect their health after being infected.
He said infected were four nurses, four nursing aides, one medical technologist, one pharmacist, and three administrative personnel.
“Mabuti na lamang at nabakunahan na kami bago ma-infect kaya hindi namin masyadong ininda iyong sakit. Sa totoo lang, kung nangyari ito bago kami na –injectionan, baka meron sa amin ang seryoso ang kalagayan, (It’s good that we already get vaccinated before we were infected with the virus and if this happened before we were inoculated, some of us would be in serious condition), De Gracia said.
De Gracia issued a memorandum ordering the temporary closure of the hospital’s Out-Patient Department (OPD) Teleconsultation on March 25.
According to De Gracia, they were among the city’s health workers who received their first doses of Sinovac that were given by the national government.
“Sinovac ensures that about 53 percent, you can prevent being infected with the COVID-19 but it ensures 100 percent you are not progressing to a severe case or even death,” he said.
“With any vaccine brand, there is always a posibility na mainfect ka pa rin (you will still be infected). Pero (But), the vaccine prevents you from becoming a severe case that will need hospitalization,” De Gracia said.
He said the second dose of the vaccine to ensure its full effect on those who had received their first dose in Pasay’s vaccination roll out will be from March 30 to April 5 for the Sinovac.
The PCGH OIC added that for AstraZeneca, it will be on the last week of April.
“Almost all of us are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms. One is admitted as moderate risk. But he is fine, “ De Gracia said.
