The Juans capped a productive year with a live concert in Dubai.

Pinoy pop group The Juans had a career milestone just before 2021 ended when they played their first ever international show in Dubai last Dec. 28. The hit Pinoy pop band, whose current members include Carl Guevarra, Japs Mendoza, RJ Cruz, Chael Adriano and Joshua Coronel, was among the featured music artists during the week of the holidays in the ongoing Dubai Expo 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.

The World Expo 2020 Dubai started from Oct. 1, 2021, and will continue until March 31, 2022. The Expo will “showcase a vast array of exhibitions, seminars, cultural performances, and live shows” in its duration.

The moment wasn’t lost on singer-keyboardist Carl Guevarra who posted on his socials just before they took the stage, “To everyone praying for us, thank you. This is it,” he wrote, adding “(we’re a) few hours away from our first international show.”

Guevarra, was emotional that his journey as a founding member of The Juans, finally took him to the group’s first ever show abroad. The Juans were formed almost six years ago. “We appreciate all of you and we do feel the love! Let’s pray that he will do something amazing in this place tonight.”

The band’s fandom, called the Juanistas, also came through for the band and made the hashtag #TheJuansDubaiExpo2020 trend on Twitter on the day of their Dubai Expo 2020 show.

The Juans played a handful of their hits for music fan attendees, most of them Pinoys in Dubai who came in droves to see The Juans’ live set at the Expo. The Pinoy crowd sang with The Juans as they went through their set, most notably on their big hit, “Hindi Tayo Pwede.”

To mark this particular career highlight, The Juans also played their first ever single, “Atin Ang Mundo.”

“I just had to go back to that first song from our first ever EP,” said Guevarra. “I’m just emotional and grateful at the same time that our journey as a band took us from that first song, to our first ever international show. And to think that it happened during these trying times is all the more remarkable for us and our fans.”

“And to be part of an event like Dubai Expo 2020 is just the tastiest icing ever,” he added.
