Pasay City logs 5 post-Christmas COVID-19 active cases

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano urged city residents to strictly observe basic health protocols after five active cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the city after Christmas.

Rubiano said the city was down to one active case on Dec. 20 but four new cases were added after the Christmas celebrations.

She said the single active case reported on Dec. 20 was the lowest recorded number for the year as the city government doubles its efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the city.

She reminded residents to do the EMI habit (Ensure to always wash your hands, Mask is a must, and Implement physical distancing) and to limit interactions to 15 minutes with proper ventilation.

Rubiano said based on the report of Miko Llorca, head of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), the five new cases are from Barangays 41, 145, 183, and 201.

She ordered the CESU to conduct tests on and surveillance of close contacts of the five cases who were found to be working outside the city.

The City Health Office (CHO) recorded 22,072 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, 21,515 recoveries, and 553 deaths.
