DSWD provides more than P99.6-M worth of assistance to 'Odette' victims


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided more than P99.6 million worth of assistance to the areas affected by typhoon Odette.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the DSWD’s aid to the Odette victims totals P99,664,449.37, citing the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report as of 6 a.m., Dec. 27.

She said the total assistance extended to the typhoon victims amounted to more than P130.14 million.

“As of 6 a.m. today (Dec. 27), available data shows that a total of P130,147,579.57 worth of assistance was provided to the affected families, of which, P99,664,449.37 from the DSWD,” Dumlao said in a Viber message.

She said more than P30.13 million was provided by the local government units (LGUs), more than P1.07 million from the non-government organizations (NGOs) and P12,500.00 from other partners.

Based on the DROMIC report, the DSWD has available stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than P957.27 million.

As of 6 p.m., Dec. 26, the agency’s total standby funds stood at P127.27 million. Of this, P57.04 million was earmarked as quick response fund (QRF) available at the DSWD Central Office and P70.23 million at the Field Offices.

The DSWD has available stockpiles worth P830.03 million. These include P423.51 million worth of non-food items (NFIs) and P216.34 million worth of other food items.

A total of 296,479 family food packs (FFPs) worth P190.18 million are available for distribution to the local government units (LGUs) that are in need of resource augmentation support.
