Shear line to bring rains over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol; amihan affects rest of Luzon – PAGASA

Various weather systems such as the shear line, northeast monsoon, and localized thunderstorms may affect the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Dec. 26.

“Nakakaapekto ang shear line sa may silangang bahagi ng southern Luzon. Ang mga pag-ulan na dulot nito ay umaabot sa Metro Manila, Calabarzon, at Bicol region (The shear line affects the eastern section of southern Luzon and it is bringing rains in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and Bicol region),” said PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren in a public weather forecast.

Shear line is also called the tail-end of frontal system.

Meanwhile, Clauren said that the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” may bring cloudy skies with isolated rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, and the rest of Luzon.

Those residing in Visayas and Mindanao were also warned against possible flash floods or landslides during severe rainfall due to localized thunderstorms.

The State weather bureau said that no weather disturbance is expected to develop and affect the country in the next two to three days. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
