Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula said that Christmas day or the birth of Jesus Christ is a reminder of God's solidarity with his people.

"Dumating si Hesus sa ating mundo bilang Emmanuel. Nagpakita ang Diyos sa sanlibutan sa anyo ng isang sanggol---mahina at maliit (Jesus came to our world as Emmanuel. God appeared to the world in the form of a baby --- weak and small),” said Advincula.

“Ito ay paalala sa atin na kasama natin ang Diyos, kakampi natin ang Diyos lalo na sa mga panahong tila wala na tayong lakas, wala na tayong pag-asa, wala na tayong kalaban-laban. Ito ang Mabuting Balita sa atin ngayong Pasko (It serves as a reminder that God is with us, that He is on our side, particularly in times when we seem to have no strength, no hope, or when we feel helpless. This is the Good News for us this Christmas)," said Advincula.

Advincula said that Christmas is also a sign of "newness."

"Why the infant Jesus? Because Christmas is about newness. Tungkol sa bagong simula, bagong umaga, bagong pag-asa. Ito ang dulot ng bawat Pasko (It is about a new beginning, a new morning, a new hope. This is what every Christmas is about). 'The dawn from on high shall break upon us to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace,'" he said.

“Christmas offers us newness, a new self, a new vision, and new relationships. Let us open our hearts to receive the gifts of the Lord Jesus who comes to us this Christmas and each day of our lives,” he added.
