The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said Friday, Dec. 24, that taxpayers affected by the killer typhoon "Odette" may file returns and pay the corresponding taxes at the nearest authorized agent banks (AABs), or to revenue collection officer (RCO), regardless of the revenue district office jurisdiction.

Likewise, BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay advised taxpayers in these areas to file their returns manually due to slow and intermittent Internet connections.
"No penalty shall be imposed for filing of returns outside the authorized district office, or AABs," Dulay said.
For payment through RCO, concerned taxpayers may pay in cash or in check regardless of the amount, provided that the check is made payable to the BIR.
Dulay said that since the mobile revenue collection officer system is also affected by the intermittent Internet connections, the RCO shall issue manual revenue official receipt for all tax payments.
Odette cut power and telecommunications services when it devastated Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Luzon last week.
A major part of the affected regions across Visayas and Mindanao still had no electricity and signal, disrupting vital government services.
