PH’s UN Sustainable Dev’t Goals Center launched in Cagayan Valley -- DOST


The country’s United Sustainable Development Goals Center established at the Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan has been inaugurated, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said Thursday, Dec. 23.

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said the Center was formally launched on Dec. 2.

He said the DOST-II, together with various collaborating agencies in Cagayan Valley, signed a memorandum of agreement and formally inaugurated the establishment of the United Sustainable Development Goals Center in the Philippines held at Isabela Convention Center.

“The establishment of the first UN SDG center in Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan will further ensure the sustainability of the smarter city project and create a sustainable ecosystem to foster S&T skills, knowledge, and ability to build capacities in the region,” the DOST chief said.

It is also aimed at nurturing the future leaders and organizations of our country about sustainable living and environmental challenges with the use of innovative technologies, he added.

He noted that the activity was in line with the celebration of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) in Cagayan Valley.

“DOST II as the lead STI Hub in Cagayan Valley will continue to dedicate its full efforts to efficient ventures in leveling up S&T approaches and realizing the importance of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDG) in the country.”
