Davao City, private companies join hands in relief aid to Odette-affected areas


DAVAO CITY – The city government of Davao and private companies pooled resources for the relief assistance to Typhoon Odette affected areas in Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Negros Occidental.

In a statement on Thursday, Dec. 23, the city government said "relief assistance teams left for the typhoon-stricken areas in Leyte and Cebu on December 19; Bohol on December 20; and, Dinagat Islands and Negros Occidental December 21 via land trip."

Mayor Sara Duterte said the relief aid to Cebu reached 55 metric tons of water, food packs, and other supplies.

"The assistance for Cebu included 559 sacks of 25-kilograms rice; 2,456 24-bottled water packs; 54 rolls of tarpaulin (trapal); 50 pieces of water container; 20 sacks of 50-kilogram rice; and 100 boxes of sardines containing 100 cans per box," the city government said.

Food and nonfood items were also sent to Negros Occidental, Leyte, and Bohol.

For Negros Occidental, the city government said 80 sacks of 50-kilogram rice, 100 boxes of sardines, 84 boxes of four-liter bottled water, and 50 cases of one-liter bottled water were sent.

In Leyte, 800 24-bottle packs of 500ml bottled water, 100 sacks of 50-kilogram rice, 100 boxes of canned goods, and 562 bundles of assorted garments were sent.

Meanwhile, in Bohol, the relief assistance contained 400 24-bottle packs of 500ml bottled water and 100 boxes of canned goods. Dinagat Islands also received 400 mega boxes of food items.

"More areas are expected to receive aid from Davao City," the city government said.
