This new raunchy comedy series is set to bring heat to your cold December

No bleeps are needed in Antoinette Jadaone’s ‘The Kangs Show’

Sex has been a topic that the Western world has never been shy to depict on TV. There are the ‘90s single women’s guide “Sex and the City,” Netflix’s “Sex Education” for the pubescent cisgender and non-binary youth, the titillating “Sex/Life,” and the list goes on. But in the local TV landscape, sex or even conversations about is rarely to be found in a sea of melodrama clichés. But that is about to change with the coming of the character Dr. Kara Teo, a feisty sex guru in WeTV’s new original series, “The Kangs Show.”

A no-holds-barred, irreverent sex-positive comedy, “The Kangs Show” presents actress Angelica Panganiban as a sex expert and a host of a midnight program. Cock-blocking her show’s success is Maris Racal as Cassandra, a Gen-Z influencer who launches a competing advice channel on TikTok. With the help of her best friend and producer Nikki portrayed by Angeli Bayani, Panganiban’s Dr. Kara pulls out all the stops to deliver the most outrageous and over-the-top stories yet, while finding herself in a complicated love threesome with JC De Vera and Kit Thompson’s respective characters.

Promising an unfiltered, in-your-face, raunchy viewing experience, “The Kangs Show” is definitely on the track to changing how sex should be depicted on the Filipino screen. “Matagal nang dapat pinag-uusapan ang sex na hindi bulungan at hindi kailangan i-bleep sa pelikula or TV (Talking about sex not in hushed tones or without the need for bleeping has long been overdue in local fils or TV),” director Antoinette Jadaone says.

Over eight episodes, viewers will get to meet different personalities in need of Dr. Kara Teo’s sage sex advice. Portraying these colorful characters are a talented group of actors that include Sheenly Gener, Yesh Burce, Arkin del Rosario, Mariella Laurel, Teetin Villanueva, Carlon Matobato, Mean Espinosa, Phi Palmos, Kych Minemoto, Abed Green, AJ Sison, Rachel Coates, Gene Padilla, Dolly de Leon, and Awra Briguela.

Will she be able to solve their intimacy issues? Catch every single episode to find out!

“The Kangks Show” is now available for streaming for free with new episodes coming every Friday, 8 p.m., exclusively on WeTV.
