Muntinlupa’s active COVID-19 cases down to 11; 4 barangays log zero cases


There are now only 11 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Muntinlupa City, and four of nine barangays have zero cases.

Tally from the Muntinlupa City Health Office showed that as of Dec. 10, there are 27,587 confirmed cases in the city, 26,997 recoveries and 579 deaths to leave only 11 active cases from 26 active cases on Dec. 9.

The city recorded zero new cases, zero deaths and 13 patients who recovered from COVID-19 for the day.

Four barangays have zero active COVID-19 cases: Ayala Alabang, Bayanan, Buli and Alabang. Buli, in particular, has recorded zero active cases for seven consecutive days from Dec. 4 to 10.

The remaining barangay with active COVID-19 cases are Poblacion with five; Putatan and Cupang with two each; and Tunasan and Sucat with one each.

In the last 10 days, Muntinlupa’s active cases are as follows: 31, Dec. 1; 27, Dec. 2; 31, Dec. 3; 31, Dec. 4; 28, Dec. 5; 30, Dec. 6; 30, Dec. 7; 27, Dec. 8; 26, Dec. 9 and 11, Dec. 10.

An OCTA Research report covering the period Dec. 1 to 7 showed that Muntinlupa’s average daily attack rate (ADAR), or incidence, is 0.55 per day per 100,000 population, the fifth lowest among local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region.

The report stated that Muntinlupa’s daily average new COVID-19 cases from Dec. 1 to 7 were three, a negative growth rate of 25 percent from the period Nov. 24 to 30.

While COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa have drastically gone down, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urged residents not to be complacent.

He encouraged the public to continue following the minimum health protocols and safety measures such as wearing of face masks, physical distancing and washing of hands.

Fresnedi urged them to get vaccinated and underscored the importance of vaccines as protection against COVID-19.
