The Malabon City government held the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in front of the City Hall on Thursday, Dec. 9.

Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta III, who led the ceremony that started at 5:30 p.m., thanked all the local government employees who helped and served the city, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chorale groups and bands in Malabon performed Christmas songs during the event.

Meanwhile, Councilor Jose Lorenzo “Enzo” Oreta urged all the citizens to celebrate Christmas with caution since the pandemic is not yet over as he reminded them of the importance of family.

“Tandaan po natin na kahit ano mang dumating, basta tayo’y sama-sama tulong-tulong lahat kaya natin, at kaya natin ituloy ang pag-asenso ng bawat pamilyang Malabonian,” he said.

Vice-mayor Ninong dela Cruz, Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, members of the Team Pamilyang Malabonian (TPM), city councilors and barangay officials witnessed the Christmas tree lighting.

Aside from the performances, a raffle draw was held, and the winners of the best Christmas costume and Barangay Christmas lighting and decoration contests were also awarded during the event.
