Mayor Vico refutes ‘fake survey’ results in Pasig elections

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto refuted the claim of a viral survey allegedly conducted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

In his official Facebook and Twitter pages, Sotto posted a screenshot of Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez’s tweet in response to the survey.

Jimenez’s tweet read: “The COMELEC has not commissioned or participated in any ‘Transparency Survey.’ Nor have I been able to verify this infographic’s authenticity with the SWS (Social Weather Stations).”

The SWS Trust Approval Rating survey in question claimed it was made by the SWS PasigPH Chapter and cited the Comelec-Philippines Transparency Survey as its source.

Surveying Districts 1 and 2 of Pasig City, the infographic showed Mayor Sotto with a rating of 52 percent, Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho with 47 percent, and undecided votes at one percent.

Maging mapanuri. Kailangan PROACTIVE tayo laban dito (The Comelec spokesperson has already confirmed it. The surveys for Vice Mayor, Congressman, and Councillor are also fake. They made a fake survey, but didn’t even increase their candidates’ votes. Fake news is running rampant. Think critically. We have to be proactive against this).”
