The Paranaque City government started the pilot implementation of limited face-to face classes in two elementary schools in the city on Monday, Dec. 6.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez visited La Huerta Elementary School and the Don Galo Elementary School where the pilot testing of face-to-face classes were held.
Olivarez also inspected both schools to ensure their readiness in conducting face-to-face classes for kindergarten up to Grade 3 students including those in Senior High School.
The mayor saw the readiness of both schools in ensuring that basic health protocols will be followed by students including the teachers and other school personnel.
Olivarez said before the opening of the pilot face-to-face classes, the school asked for the consent of the children's parents and assured them that all the teachers and school personnel have been fully vaccinated.
He said the city government is also seeing the "new normal" for the students in the city even though the schools will only be conducting limited hours.
Olivarez added once the pilot testing for face-to-face classes turns out to be a success, he is hopeful that the 45 campuses in the city will soon be opened to the students.
The city's COVID-19 cases are down to 40 with six barangays out of 16 that have recorded zero cases.
He encouraged all the barangays to also aim for zero COVID-19 cases in their areas.
