The celebrated author-restaurateur is also releasing two new cookbooks
It is not new for Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou to gain praises and accolades for the cookbooks he pens, but his latest win at Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris is a special one since “Simpol The Cookbook” is the one he created during the pandemic. The said culinary book won in two categories: Celebrity Chef – World and Easy Recipes at Home.
“I am truly moved by this recognition of the international community. It is more meaningful as we continue to strive to produce excellent work against the odds,” the chef posted on Instagram. “This work was produced at the height of the pandemic, and it did not stop us. In fact, it fortified our resolve to do more meaningful work. Work that is relevant and helpful to our community and our audience.”
The cookbook reflects the success of his namesake YouTube channel, and was “created for people who have careers but also need to feed their families.”
“Simpol is not just about simple recipes; it is about embracing a more open mindset so we are able to focus on what is doable in our lives—simple solutions to everyday cooking challenges,” he said in a previous Manila Bulletin Lifestyle report.
Currently, Chef Tatung is giving everyone this holiday the chance to whip up great eats with the help of his new cookbooks. First is the “Simpol Kitchen Secrets,” where he guides readers on cooking techniques made easy with over 100 recipes and 200 kitchen tips. Next is “Baking Simpol,” a culinary bible dedicated to helping home cooks bake the best desserts, bread, and pastries, and more.
“Simpol Kitchen Secrets” book has been released last Nov. 30, 2021. While “Baking Simpol” will be launched on Dec. 8, 2021.
