Terrafirma completed a stunning comeback to beat San Miguel Beer in overtime, 23-20, Sunday, Dec. 5 and secure the last quarterfinals berth in the fourth leg of the PBA 3x3 tournament at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

TH Tumalip and Dhon Reverente scored five straight points after trailing 20-15 to force an extension before Matt Salem sealed the deal in the extension with a two-pointer that kept Terrafirma’s campaign alive.

Tumalip, Reverente, Salem and Jebb Bulawan avoided a disappointing exit after starting the leg with two straight victories.

Their bid to complete a three-game sweep of Pool C was thwarted by TNT’s Almond Vosotros, Samboy de Leon, Lervin Flores and Martin Gozum after a 21-14 decision.

The Dyip were scheduled at presstime to face Platinum Karaoke, the only unbeaten team in the preliminaries after 22-10 win over Zamboanga.

Chris de Chavez, Karl Dehesa, JR Alabanza and Ryan Monteclaro went 4-0 to top Pool A.

Other quarterfinal pairings pit Meralco-Cavitex, Pioneer-Purefoods and TNT-Limitless.

Limitless clinched second in Pool A at 3-1 after eliminating third leg champion Sista, 21-12.

The win put up by Brandon Rosser, Reymar Caduyac, Jorey Napoles and Marvin Hayes allowed Cavitex, with a 2-2 record, to claim third place and an outright spot in the knockout stage.

Sista was eliminated after going 1-3.

Meralco’s Tonino Gonzaga, Alfred Batino, Joseph Sedurifa and Dexter Maiquez fell to San Miguel, 20-15, while Pioneer’s Carlo de Chavez, Christian Rivera, Robin Rono and Gian Abrigo edged Barangay Ginebra, 19-18, that resulted in a three-way tie in Pool B at 2-1.

But Meralco had the best tiebreaker among the three teams, Pioneer secured second spot while SMB was relegated to the playoff with Terrafirma.

TNT’s win over Terrafirma also created a three-way tie at 2-1 along with Purefoods, which rolled to a 21-9 romp of NorthPort.

The Tropang Giga claimed the No. 1 position in Pool C while Purefoods placed second to gain an outright quarters berth.
