Filipino Ryan "Raging Potato" Jay Qui and his Team SMG pulled off the biggest upset so far in the Division I of the DPC SEA Winter Tour after taking down The International 10 SEA representatives Fnatic in a 2-0 fashion on Saturday, Dec 4.

SMG, which got promoted to the upper division prior to the start of the new DPC season, did not only held its ground against the star-studded Fnatic but also managed to topple the SEA powerhouse twice to score a sweep and start its DPC campaign with a bang.

Yeik Nai “MidOne” Zheng was a man on a mission in the two-game stretch as he helped the Malaysian-squad prove that it belongs to the top squads in the SEA region. MidOne shone on his Luna in the two games, unleashing a near-perfect 8-1-8 performance before following it up with an equally impressive 7-2-5 score line in the series clincher.

It wasn’t a one man show, however, for SMG which did everything to hold off a Fnatic side that featured a powerful cast led by Djardel “DJ” Mampusti and Marco Polo “Raven” Fausto.

SMG made a huge call to take the Roshan at the 18-minute mark of the first game all while Fnatic is pushing at the bottom lane. Fnatic tried to contest the Roshan take but that spelled doom to its side as four heroes went down against two from SMG.

SMG went on to roll from that point as it scored the first point of the series after a tight 18-14 contest.

With all the momentum on its side, Team SMG never let go of the driver's seat in the second game as it led by as much as 14k net worth over Fnatic. The dynamic duo of MidOne’s Luna and Kam "Moon" Boon Seng’s Lina provided the one-two punch to which the Filipinos had trouble finding answers.

SMG continued to dominate the clashes as its heroes reached its power spike to ultimately finish off Fnatic, 20-15, in just 30 minutes of play.

SMG will now try to prove that its victory is no fluke when it takes on another SEA region titans T1 on Dec. 9 while Fnatic hopes to barge into the win column when it clashes against PH-based team TNC Predator on Dec. 8.
