Meralco sends Trevis Jackson to Rain or Shine for rookie Franky Johnson

Meralco agreed to send Trevis Jackson to Rain or Shine in exchange for rookie Franky Johnson, the two teams announced Saturday. Dec. 4.

The PBA Commissioner’s Office approved the trade which will end Jackson’s tenure with the team that drafted him fifth overall in the 2018 Rookie Draft.

Jackson played 12 games for Meralco in this year’s Philippine Cup but averaged less than 10 minutes per outing while producing 2.3 points on 43-percent shooting.

“He is a good teammate, and we thank him for giving his time and effort to Meralco. We wish Trevis the best with his new team,” said Bolts team manager Paolo Trillo.

In return, the Bolts got Johnson, who was chosen in the second round by the Elasto Painters in this year’s draft.

Johnson made just three appearances for Rain or Shine in the Philippine Cup, posting 4.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

The two players will look to take advantage of their new surroundings with the season-ending Governors’ Cup just a few days away.

Both Jackson and Johnson are capable of scoring, particularly from the outside, something Meralco and ROS hope would help shore up their respective rotations.
