With the new variants of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in circulation, an expert reminded the public to exercise caution during Christmas gatherings.

In an interview with TeleRadyo, Dr. Nina Gloriani, vaccine expert panel chairperson at the Department of Science and Technology, said Holiday parties should be done with compliance with COVID-19 restrictions to prevent the possible spread of the virus amid the Omicron variant.

“May precautions naman, kasi alam nyo patuloy pa rin naman ang buhay. Sabi nga nila, we have to learn to live with the virus pero nandoon ang pag-iingat (There are precautions, because you know, life still needs to go on. They say, we have to learn to live with the virus but there should be precautions),” Gloriani said.

“May mga party na mangyayari, hindi maiiwasan yan pero maganda yung narinig ko na dapat lahat ng sasali doon ay bakunado. Lahat ng magsisilbi doon, magse-serve doon sa party na yun, gathering, bakunado (Parties will happen, they are inevitable. But I agree with this thing I heard, everyone who will participate in the parties should be vaccinated. Everyone who will serve at the parties and gatherings, should be vaccinated),” she added.

And don’t forget to observe physical distancing, too, Gloriani reminded.

“Merong trade off sa ginagawa natin. May pag-iingat pero pwede po, para sa akin. Pero malinaw ang mangyayari, 100 percent ng dadalo, bakunado, completely vaccinated (There’s a trade off in what we do. There should be precautions. Parties are possible, for me. But this should be clear, 100 percent of party attendees should be fully vaccinated,” Gloriani reiterated.
