The Paranaque City government was awarded by Gcash for best practice in the delivery of public service using digital tools.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez thanked Gcash head of payment and channel products, Ferdie Pelez, for the award of excellence in digital public services.

Olivarez said the city government and Gcash inked a Memorandum of Agreement in the implementation of cashless and contactless disbursement of financial assistance.

He said the award features best practices in the delivery of basic services using digital tools specifically for online payments to ease day-to-day transactions and provide convenience to any transacting individuals or business entity.

During the virtual awarding, the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) under Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, said Olivarez underscored the importance of using digital platforms in this time of global pandemic as this significantly contributed to the local government's vision to fully adopt technology in reducing red tape and the cost of doing business.

Olivarez said the city government will continues to forge partnerships with financial service providers (FSPs) in providing a holistic approach in this digital age of government service.

Malaya said the city government is using the digital platform for cashless and contactless disbursement of financial assistance to scholars, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and 4Ps beneficiaries (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program)

She said the digital platform is also being used in the financial aid distribution for tricycle operators and drivers association (TODA) and pedicab operators and drivers association (PODA).
