King of OPM Theme Songs Erik Santos has revealed it’s going to be another cold Christmas for him this year.
At the press launch of his latest Christmas song “Paskong Kayakap Ka” at the Academy of Rock in Quezon City Thursday, Dec. 2, Erik admitted he has no special someone to celebrate the holidays with.
“Wala talaga. Siguro unan ko,” said Erik when asked about the special someone he wanted to hug this Christmas. Kasi minsan pag pinipilit natin doon tayo nagkakamali.”
But the 39-year-old balladeer said he is inspired these days.
Asked about the qualities he’s looking for in a girl, Erik said: “Sa ngayon ang hinahanap ko na qualities ‘yung mamahalin talaga ako. Kailangan grabe yung faith niya kay God, pareho kami ng values in life and mahal din niya ang pamilya ko.”
Despite this, Erik said he is not in a hurry to find his special someone.
“I am still taking my time. I’m not getting any youger. Dati meron akong time frame.
Erik also revealed he suffered panic attacks during the pandemic.
Kasi mas pinagpapasalamat ko ngayon I’m still here and alive. Para sa akin mas mahalaga ngayon ang relationship with the people who matter.”
Erik said he fought anxiety by keeping his faith and strong family support.
I don’t want to sound preachy pero ganun talaga. Ang tumulong sa akin ay yung faith and my family. Kahit na anong mangyari, yung family ko andyan sila para sa akin,” he also said.
Released under ABS-CBN Star Music, “Paskong Kayakap Ka” vocalizes the longing for the warmth and company of loved ones during the holidays.
Erik said.
“Paskong Kayakap Ka” was written and composed by ABS-CBN creative director Jonathan Manalo and expresses one’s desire to be with special people in his life to make the Christmas celebration more special. It is accompanied by a soft piano instrumental that sets the song’s nostalgic mood.
In October, Erik dropped his version of the worship song “Sigaw Ng Puso” about fully submitting to God’s will despite experiencing overwhelming distresses.
Erik is regularly seen as a host and performer on “ASAP Natin ‘To.” On Dec. 3, Erik and other artists from Cornerstone Entertainment Inc. will fly to Dubai to perform for the Filipino communities there.
During the Facebook Live for the launch of his Christmas song, Erik said that it was the first time he performed face-to-face once again since the pandemic. “Na-miss ko rin ang live audience for almost two years.” He also launched the Erik Essentials Kit in the same event.
