Here’s the story behind her national costume
Samantha Panlilio spreads her wings and enchants the Miss Grand International crowd with her paruparo (butterfly)-inspired national costume.
The Filipina beauty queen wore a design by Louis Pangilinan with wings and headpiece crafted by Santino Rivera.
“Inspired from the Paruparo Festival held during the 26th of November, Louis Pangilinan Fashion Empire executed a golden one-piece swimsuit as part of Samantha’s National Costume bodice which was hand-embroidered and embellished with beads, Swarovski crystals, and sequins depicting the flamboyant transformation of women empowerment,” Louis posted.
“Inspiring change, transition, and hope,” the garb, much like the beauty’s story, represents a metamorphosis of “a woman who is capable of changing and touching others with hope and joy—truly, a golden butterfly,” as the designer puts it.
The look is completed with gilded high heels by Jojo Bragais.
