Not only in the Philippines, but throughout the rest of the world, the threat of the Omicron coronavirus disease (COVID-19) variant persists. As such, international reports will start to be included in our daily COVID-19 updates.

An infectious disease experts said that the Omicron variant could be the same as the Delta variant that wrought havoc in the country in the mid-year.

To further bolster the public’s protection against the new variant, the government has approved the booster inoculation of the general population aged 18 years old and above, and has set a second round of its massive national vaccination drive before Christmas.

Meanwhile, color coding has returned to Metro Manila with some modifications from the original version in a bid to arrest the worsening traffic spurned by the reopening of the economy.
