The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) monitored a 4.6-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Batangas early morning on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Based on its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at around 1:35 a.m., with the epicenter traced 20 kilometers (km) southwest of Calatagan, Batangas.
The quake occurred at a depth of 121 km.
Phivolcs' instruments recorded the earthquake at Intensity I in Calatagan, Batangas.
Phivolcs said it was an aftershock of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred on July 24, 2021.
The 6.6-magnitude quake was due to the movement of the Manila Trench.
