3 Iloilo grads in Top 10 of teachers’ licensure exam


ILOILO CITY — Three graduates from universities in Iloilo City are in the Top 10 of the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) for Secondary Level.

Bryan Paul Landar Espinosa and Shenry Jun Antiza Esparagoza of Central Philippine University (CPU) ranked sixth and 10th respectively.

Karen Mallorca Gardose of West Visayas State University (WVSU) ranked ninth.

Espinosa, a magna cum laude graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education Major in English, had a rating of 92 percent.

Gardose had a 91.4-percent rating while Esparagoza had 91.20-percent rating.

WVSU was also ranked as one of LET’s top-performing schools in the country. It ranked first with a passing rate of 91.55 percent. A total of 65 out of 71 graduates who took the licensure test passed.

The LET that was administered last September had 17,863 examinees for the secondary level licensure. There was 57.76-percent passing rate or 10,318 successful takers. A total of 9,286 teachers were first-time takers of the LET while 1,032 were repeat takers.
