Colonel Jonna Dalaguit, commanding officer of the Army General Hospital, said each medical team is composed of five members - a doctor and four nurses - who are trained to handle the vaccination of civilians in areas identified by the Department of Health (DOH).

She said the medical teams were fielded in the vaccination sites established in Metro Manila.

"The Philippine Army supports the government's thrust to protect the people from the threat of COVID-19 through their participation in the Nationwide Vaccination Day," Dalaguit said.

The National Vaccination Days is a nationwide immunization drive that aims to ramp up the capacity of all the 16 regions to vaccinate the public against COVID-19. Slated from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, it targets to administer nine million vaccine doses.

Dalaguit encouraged individuals who have not yet received their vaccines to get inoculated and be protected from the deadly disease, especially amid the detection of the new Omicron (B1.1.529) variant.

"To those who have not yet received their doses, get vaccinated because it will shield you from the adverse effects of COVID-19," Col. Dalaguit said.

The Philippine Army's medical treatment facilities (MTF) nationwide also joined in the first day of the national vaccination drive along with its 13 medical teams.
