Traslacion procession 2022 cancelled; replaced by motorcade celebration

The traslacion on the Feast of the Black Nazarene was supposed to be held on Jan. 9, 2022. The procession was also cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it was decided that the traslacion could instead be celebrated through a motorcade in select areas around Manila after a deliberation between Fr. Douglas Badong and other officials of the Quiapo church and the Manila city government.

Manila Police District Director Gen. Leo Francisco added that a minimum of 8,000 police personnel will be deployed during the celebration, though the figure may change depending on Manila’s alert level by January 2022.
