CPS shocks Petro Gazz in Champs League

California Precision Sports (CPS) stunned pro team PetroGazz, 18-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-14, 15-13, Wednesday to end its campaign on a big note in the PNVF Champions League at the Aquamarine Recreational Center in Lipa City, Batangas.

Jelaica Gajero steered the visiting varsity squad by firing eight points in the pivotal fifth set to finish the tournament with two wins against three defeats.

Gajero pumped in 22 points built on 19 kills, two blocks and one ace while Casiey Dongallo also sizzled with 22 points highlighted by 21 attacks.

CPS grabbed the fifth-set momentum with an 11-6 lead but PetroGazz woke up from a slumber with Grethcel Soltones and Ces Molina leading the assault to trail 13-12.

The visiting squad held its composure with Gajero and Joyce Soliven delivering the critical blows for the win.

Jenalyn Umayam contributed seven points including two blocks for CPS, while Soliven chipped in three points.

CPS’s win overshadowed the efforts of Molina and Soltones, who finished with 22 and 14 points for PetroGazz.

Jessey De Leon and Jerrily Malabanan also scored 12 and 11 points for the Angels.

PetroGazz evened its record at 2-2 with its final match set Thursday against the Tuguegarao Perlas Spikers.
