Omega Esports has been officially banned from all Valve-sponsored events including the upcoming Dota 2 SEA DPC Tour 1 due to its engagement in match-fixing activities.
In a statement released by SEA DPC League on Tuesday, Nov 23, the ban is effective immediately and extends to its former and current players Dave “Hiro” Miyata, Piolo “Piolz” Dela Cruz, Van Jerico “Van” Manalaysay, and Chris Ian “cty” Maldo, Prince “Prince” Daculan, and Ryniel “Zenki” Galvez
“Team Smart Omega (aka Omega Esports) have been officially banned from all valve-sponsored events due to their engagement in match fixing activities,” said the SEA DPC League.
Omega was stripped of its spot in the Division I of the SEA DPC Tour 1 which is set to open on Dec. 1
Boom Esports from the lower division will be taking its place in the upper division while BTS will organize a separate qualifier which will happen on Nov. 26 to fill the open slot in the Division II.
Meanwhile, Van’s current team, Execration was permitted to fill up the spot that will be left by the former Omega player.
Manila Bulletin has tried to reach out to Omega Esports regarding the announcement but the organization has not replied yet to our message as of press time.
