E. Visayas logs lowest number of COVID-19 cases this year


TACLOBAN CITY - Eastern Visayas has logged the lowest number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases this year with five recorded infections and only 148 active cases Monday (November 22).

The Department of Health attributes the decrease to the massive vaccination campaign of the government.

However, Jelyn Malibago, DOH-8 information officer warned the public to not be complacent with the decreasing number of COVID-19 infections.

"We continue to remind the public that we are still in a pandemic and COVID-19 is still here," she stressed.

As of November 21, 2021, Eastern Visayas has a total of 1,662,613 vaccinated individuals, or 49.4 percent of the target population.

Of these, 1,083,561 or 32.2 percent have been fully vaccinated.DOH-8 has logged 51,217 cases with 50,458 or 98.52 percent total recoveries and 611 deaths.
