Cebu City gearing up for Nat’l Vax Drive

CEBU CITY — The city government here is gearing up for the National Vaccination Drive on November 29, 30 and December 1.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, Officer-in-Charge of the City Health Department, said the city is still looking for volunteers for the three-day vaccination drive which seeks to vaccinate close to 100,000 individuals.

“We are targeting to vaccinate 32,000 individuals a day for that three-day period,” said Ibones.

The city is already holding meetings with hospital and school officials as part of the preparation, said Ibones.

There will be 90 vaccination sites that will be put up to help meet the target.

“We need the help of the hospitals for our medical personnel such us nurses, doctors, pharmacists and medical technologist. For the encoders, we can tap the city government to provide us the needed personnel,” said Ibones.

Aside from the national vaccination drive, the city is also preparing for the administering of booster shots.

Ibones said the city could start giving booster shots on December.

“We will be requesting more vaccines from the Department of Health because we will allocate vaccines exclusive for the booster shots,” Ibones said.

Individuals will only receive a booster six months after they got fully vaccinated.
The city plans to give a separate vaccination card for those who already received a booster shot, Ibones said.
