Leading its return is the SM Cinema Aura Premier, which opened yesterday, Nov. 17, 2021. In the coming days, other cinema branches will also follow suit. On Nov. 24, 2021, newly redeveloped theaters at North EDSA, Mall of Asia, and Megamall will be ready to accommodate moviegoers. Its newest branch in Grand Central will be opening on Nov. 26, 2021. While SM Cinemas in Fairview, Southmall, Manila, and BF Parañaque, as well as in Clark, San Lazaro, Baguio, Dasmariñas, Sta. Rosa, Sucat, Sta Mesa, and Bicutan will begin operations on Nov. 30, 2021.

Much like other movie theaters, SM Cinemas put health and safety protocols on top of their priority list with MERV filters and air purifiers installed in the theaters, regular sanitation, and capacity restrictions for proper distancing. Only fully vaccinated individuals, adults and kids, are allowed inside and must wear a face mask all the time. Wearing a face shield is non-mandatory and voluntary. Cashless payments are also available to minimize contact with their fully vaccinated staff.

As for the films to see, SM Cinemas’ roster of titles includes “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Eternals,” “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” “Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City,” and “No Time To Die.” K-pop cinephiles get the chance to see “Black Pink The Movie” and “Monsta X: The Dreaming” on the big screen. And, of course, the comeback of the Metro Manila Film Festival to the cinemas is set to take place in its theaters.
